Cute Classroom Inspiration–Tara Stimac, Grand Blanc, MI

Some of you may remember, Tara, my teaching partner.  I featured pictures of her gorgeous ocean inspired classroom.  Before Tara’s room was saturated in beautiful blues and greens, she had an entirely different theme!

Tara and I both LOVE decorating!  We talk about it and think about it all the time.  So, when she called me one snowy January morning (I happened to be at a conference) and told me she was tearing down her entire classroom and replacing it with a new theme, I wasn’t surprised!  I have to admit, I thought she was a little crazy…who tears down their room in January?  Ummmm….Tara does!

Tara wanted to create a patriotic theme for personal reasons.  Her brother is in the Army.  She planned to create a space that served as a tribute to her brother.

The girl was on a mission.  Tara is the type of girl that once she gets an idea in her head, she runs with it!  There was no stopping her!  She stayed after school until the building closed night after night.

This was the final result…

Tara created a flag above her windows.  Did you notice her coordinating storage boxes?

Don’t you love how she decorated the doors?  The children also created their own self portraits and Tara mounted their pictures on coordinating paper.

Tara took everything down the last week of school in preparation for her new ocean theme.

I have asked her what her plans are for next year… she says she LOVES her ocean inspired classroom so much that she doesn’t want to take it down.  I know how much she likes to decorate, so I am betting that a change will be coming!!!

We shall see….

I love both rooms – but I’m with you. I think about mid-August, there might be change in the air!

SO CRAZY! I taught at Grand Blanc, went to Grand Blanc, all my nieces and nephews go to Grand Blanc. I live in North Carolina. I just took my 4 little ones to school and was browsing Pinterest and find this. Wild. Love her room. So fun and creative! In what school do you teach? I was 3rd grade at McGrath. I never realized how fortunate I was to teach in Michigan until moving to NC. The teachers make next to nothing and even more is expected of them. They have no lunch break. They take their classes to lunch and recess. Only the schools that have really strong PTO’s have the technology. Anyway, such an inspiration! Can’t wait to see more from you ladies!

I teach at Brendel! They changed it back to a K-5 building 6 years ago and I transferred from Indian Hill to be the new Kindergarten teacher. That is so crazy!!!! 🙂

I can’t believe that I’m just on on the other side of the building, and never saw this. It’s amazing, Tara! I need to take a walk down the K/1 hall more often!

Thanks for sharing this! I am totally doing a Patriotic theme in 2013. Why am I waiting until 2013? Because my oldest son will be going into the Air Force after he graduates in May. When school starts the in Aug 2013, he will be a boot camp. This will help me through!!! 🙂

What did you do on the stars that are hanging from the ceiling? They look like an activity the kids would have done 🙂
