While my dining room had a playful and fun design, my living room shows my inner “Glamour Girl” side. I love glittery and sparkly EVERYTHING! I decorated with glittery spiders, birds, crows and ribbon. My antique glassware makes even the simplest item appear prettier and festive! I used antique silver trays and goblets to create an old, spookier feel.
My favorite design trick for holiday decorating is the use of antique glassware and crystal. I LOVE cake stands, dessert cups, crystal bowls, trays, platters…basically, anything that shimmers and shines! Antique crystal and glassware can be ridiculously inexpensive. I never pay more than $20 for a piece in my collection. You can find me combing resale shops, flea markets, garage sales, and even thrift shops. I have found sets of crystal dessert cups for $1! Varying the size and height in a display is visually appealing to the eye – you can do this by mixing and matching pieces and even stacking them for a dramatic look!
The key to using old pieces of crystal and glassware in your decor is to make sure you pair it with something new. If you only used old pieces to decorate, your design will look old and dated. If you look closely at my buffet, I used a new feather wreath and ribbon, new glitzy black flowers, and a new jar from Pottery Barn.
Lastly, I topped off my design with a new “Build-Your-Own-Banner” from Schoolgirl Style. I alternated orange and black letters, then used a glitzy and shimmery scrapbook paper from Michaels to tie in my glittery Halloween theme!
I hope you enjoy the pictures! Happy Halloween, everyone!

WOW! That’s amazing, where do you get the time? Actually I find Halloween a strange celebration of all those dark and spooky creatures but you made it look so happy and fun!
