Teacher Blogs

When I made the decision to start a blog, I never knew teacher blogs existed.  I’ve taught for 14 years and used the internet to search for lessons and art projects, but never found a teacher blog in any of my searches.  When I started to blog, teachers started to contact me and referred me to their own sites.  I couldn’t believe it!  There are so many fabulous teachers out there and SO many great ideas!  I could literally spend days upon days searching blogs!

Abby, from The Inspired Apple, contacted me in the beginning .  I immediately LOVED her blog!  Abby mentioned Cara from The First Grade Parade in one of her posts, so I hopped on over and couldn’t believe all of her fantastic ideas!  I also learned about Deanna Jump, a Kindergarten teacher from Georgia.  Being a Kindergarten teacher for several years, I knew she was absolutely phenomenal when I visited her site!  I was hooked.  I visit these blogs on a daily basis.  I am in awe of their talent.  These ladies have changed the way I teach.  I feel like I have gotten back to my roots and how kids learn best.

After visiting these sites, I had to share with my colleagues.  Like me, they never knew they existed either.  We are now obsessed with teacher blogs!  Excitement travels through our school when a fabulous unit is purchased!  If you walk down our hallways, you see “Teacher Blog Mania” pasted all over the walls!  Frankie, black cats, The Candy Corn Bandit, glyphs, monsters, spiders, bats, pumpkins…teacher created units that are so much fun!

If you haven’t visited these sites, go there NOW!  Seriously good stuff.  Thank you, ladies, for inspiring teachers everywhere!
