I can’t believe I am going to do this. I think I might be a little crazy! I decided to have a little fun on my blog tonight and pulled out my old 1991 photos. Let me tell you why…
I looked at my Facebook page this morning and noticed the number of followers I had. I immediately thought of how close I was to 1991 – my absolute favorite year! I graduated from high school in 1991 and was having the time of my life! I was getting ready to go to college, had a great part time job to get me through school, and I just won my small, hometown pageant. I spent a carefree summer having fun with friends and doing the whole pageant wave in several small town parades around my hometown. Along with the BIG hair, I had BIG dreams. This was the beginning of my life and I was going to conquer the world. I had dreams of becoming a teacher, moving somewhere warm, and was so excited to “grow up!”
I LOVED 1991…
I can’t believe it has been over 20 years since that time in my life. I feel like it was yesterday! When I found this on Pinterest, it made me laugh – it is SO me!!! Although this time of my life happened over 20 years ago, it doesn’t feel that way. I still feel young despite the fact that my teenage son routinely reminds me of how old I am!
Just for fun, I thought I would share my 1991 photos with you…
This was the program for the 1992 Miss Flushing pageant…
My 1991 Senior picture…
Getting ready to work at the bank. I was lucky enough to get a job as a Teller and Customer Service Representative. What a great job to get me though college! Don’t you love the décor in the background? Ummmm…Mom, what were you thinking? (My mom and dad read my blog – they will die when they see this lovely décor!)
My Pontiac LeMans – this was a nice car back then! ![]()
Getting ready for another parade…

My senior picture from 1993 looks exactly like yours! Big hair and light from behind…. what was up with that trend? I enjoyed looking at your “retro” pictures!
Love the big hair – didn’t we all have it? Time does fly in a blink of an eye. However, you are still lookin’ young!
Does the item appear half price once you’ve gone through the checkout process? Or do you need to enter a promo code? Thanks for the fun sharing!
No promo code. It should appear half price in the checkout process! 🙂
is your owl theme available yet? looking forward to that!
Love it! The hair is hilarious!
I wish it was, Rebecca! It won’t be in the shop until the first week of April. 🙂
LOVE IT! I also graduated in ’91…are you sure 1990 wasn’t ten years ago?
It said 1990 when I pushed the button…I think I got to be1991….too fun! I did the BIG bangs and cobra sides on my elementary age daughters back then. Our midlife miracle is 8…..they have never allowed me to give her bangs of any sort. 🙂
Yay! My 1991 friend!!!! 🙂
Cool Beans! I just had to throw that out there! How fun! I am terrified of my big hair, blue eyeliner pictures! Great post!

This is so fun!! I loved that quote on pinterest too! Seriously, my students the other day were saying that in 1996 we had black and white tvs! I was so offended!! I said “what are you guys talking about, that was like 10 years ago!”
You were…and still are…gorgeous!
OMG! Love the big hair–what a great flashback to the days of lots of teasing and hairspray! LOL

OMG!!! I love it!! Beautiful then beautiful now 🙂
The hair! The hair! How long did it take us to do that hair?? 1991 was my first year to teach! Talk about conquering the world!! Love the pics, and I have the same poster on my Pinterest board!
I don’t care what the math says – I think the sign is right. 1990 was 10 years ago! Oh how I wish it were true.
Misty

Oh My! My hair looked the same way back in the 90s! :o) Happy 1991 to you!
OMG! Love your post…I am a 1992 graduate and this summer is my 20th reunion! Oh the memories! I love your blog and your creative ideas! Would you happen to be from Flushing, MI? My mom is from Flushing and went to Flushing High School. I visit my Uncle @ Lake Fenton very summer! Anyways! Love everything you do!! Keep it up! …and I love the big hair!
Yes, I am from Flushing, Michigan!!! I know Lake Fenton very well – my parents moved to that area after I graduated and they live very close to Lake Fenton! What a small world!
Melanie you are more beautiful now than in 1991. Not many people can claim that! Tell Jake he is blessed to have you for a mother, but I already know he knows that. He has worshiped you since he was a baby.

Tamera! Thank you so much! I really appreciate the kind words! I will go check out your blog right now! 🙂
OMG!! Melanie I BELIEVE the sign!! It seems like 1991 was just yesterday. I can’t believe I’m admitting this but I am permanently stuck at the age 18 inside my head. haha! I don’t feel 38!! I’m sure I look it but that’s a different story. 🙂 Woohoo to 1991!!
